A Review of the DUI Laws in the State of Oregon

Interviewer: One of the first things I ask is whenever I talk to you about DUI in Oregon you always say DUII. So what’s the difference between DUI and DUII? What is that?

Shannon: Well it’s driving under the influence of intoxicants. So intoxicants can mean one of three things, or a combination of three things, but it’s either alcohol, an intoxicating liquor, an intoxicating controlled substance, or an inhalant. So that’s what it stands for. And I think maybe other states have driving under the influence just in their title and maybe some other subcategory, I’m not really quite sure what state would say what, but that’s what DUII stands for in the State of Oregon.
